Are you that mom that is always late?
Me too. Especially when I am trying to get my hair and makeup looking decent.
And I really want to fix that.
My hope is that by compiling some quick hair and makeup tips, it will not only help me, but it will help other moms out there who feel frazzled when trying to get ready to leave the house.
The goal is to create a hair and makeup routine that can be done in about 15 minutes.
Because let’s be honest. Between last minute exploding diapers and your kids’ (and husband’s) missing shoes, you’ll be lucky to even have that much time.
15 Minute Hair and Makeup Tips for the Mom that’s Always Late
Goal: <5 minutes
I always try to do something with my hair even if I don’t have time for makeup.
If you have great hair and a bare face, I think it makes a better impression than wild hair or mom bun and full makeup– but that’s my preference.
I combed through the hair tutorials on YouTube (ha! Combed! Get it?) and found some great videos on hairstyles for both wet and dry hair.
I suggest finding a pretty style that you can do quickly and make it your go-to look when you are running out the door.
I can do a french twist in under a minute without a mirror because I’ve been doing it 3x a week for a year. 😉 While that comes in handy a lot, I think it’s time to add to my repertoire.
Here are two videos for wet hair. I love having the option to be able to still have a cute hairstyle, even when I literally just got out of the shower.
Long Wet Hair
Short/Medium Wet Hair
And if you have dry hair, these are super cute! I think these looks will work well on short/medium or long hair!
And here are some super cute quick hairstyles for natural hair. I’m loving the half-up half-down look!
Goal time: <10 minutes
I don’t wear full-face makeup everyday. I think it’s kind of weird to completely transform your face all the time so that no one knows what you really look like. ha!
But makeup is definitely fun and it is a good pick me up when I want to feel put together and pretty.
Here are some tips on how to look beautiful without makeup, for when you want to look fresh but you don’t have time for the real deal.

Flawless 10 Minute Face for the Everyday Girl
There you have it! If you have 15 minutes, you can head out the door looking good.
It might take some practice, especially for techniques you haven’t tried before. But if you stick with it, you can get your hair and makeup routines down faster.
I also recommend keeping your bathroom as organized as possible, so that you can find what you need when you need it!
With these tips and a bit of practice, maybe we won’t be late EVERY time we go out!
